The 2008 Ford Ranger XL is easy to maintain but it does have its share of challenges. For instance, the headlight housings will require fasteners to be pried up and bolts to be removed for access, which won’t allow for reliable bulb changes. The center brake light is not an LED bulb, thus requiring more maintenance over time and added tools to do so. Accessing the spare tire and jack kit may be a problem, given the former’s position underneath the vehicle and the latter’s confusing location in the cabin.
However, the 2008 Ford Ranger XL has many upsides. All of the tail lights are located in a single housing which removes easily to allow for reliable bulb changes. Replacing the battery shouldn’t be a problem given the unobstructed position in the engine bay. The brake fluid reservoir has very open access to allow for ease of monitoring the levels.
