The 1999 Hyundai Elantra GL is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain. The tail lights are all located behind a single cover in the trunk, which removes easily to allow for reliable bulb changes. Monitoring the engine coolant won’t be a problem thanks to the unobstructed position of the reservoir. The engine air filter housing unlatches without the use of tools, making for easy filter replacements.
However, the 1999 Hyundai Elantra GL does have its downsides. The entire battery must be removed to reach the headlights on the driver side, which will require tools and won’t allow for reliable bulb access. Changing the center brake light might be problematic as you’ll have to work in a cramped position to do so. The spark plugs will be difficult to reach as removing the engine cover to reach them might prove challenging.
