The 1996 Dodge Avenger ES is an extremely easy car to maintain, and a good choice for the average car owner. The fog light is no problem to change, as you only have to reach underneath the vehicle for access to the bulb. Checking the transmission fluid level is easy to do, as the fluid dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. Not every model includes this dipstick. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit reliably ready to go in case of emergency.
Some things are more problematic to maintain on the 1996 Dodge Avenger ES. To access some of the tail lights, you will need a few tools that you may not have readily available for a repair in order to remove the blub housing. This would have been much easier if there were a designated panel in the rear of the vehicle for reliable access.
